Acer Unveils Iconia Duo Tablet Series and Dual AI/AR Wearable Lineup

From 2.8K OLED "Golden Ratio" tablets to hands-free Google Gemini integration, Acer is betting big on the post-smartphone era.

Taipei, May 29, 2026 — Screens are getting bigger, but the devices are getting weirder. Acer just dropped a massive product update that suggests they aren’t content with just making “another tablet.”

Instead, they’re leaning into what they call the “Golden Ratio”—a 3:2 aspect ratio across a new fleet of Iconia Duo tablets—while simultaneously trying to move the display off your desk and onto your face with two new pairs of smart glasses.

The heavy hitter of the bunch is the Iconia Duo S14. This isn’t your average “watch Netflix in bed” slate. It’s a 14.2-inch 2.8K OLED monster running Android 16 and powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300.

The 3:2 ratio is the real story here; it’s taller than the standard widescreen, making it actually useful for reading documents or coding without constant scrolling.

But frankly, the tablets feel like the “meat and potatoes” compared to the wearables. The Acer GI0 AI glasses are a legitimate head-turner.

Weighing in at just 46 grams—essentially the weight of a standard pair of Ray-Bans—these things integrate Google Gemini for hands-free AI voice assistance.

You get real-time translation, image analysis via a built-in 12MP camera, and AI captions.

It’s a wireless, subtle way to carry a supercomputer on your nose for $299.

If you want raw immersion instead of a voice assistant, the Acer AR Vision GR0 glasses are the answer.

These are wired, but they use dual micro OLED FHD screens to project what looks like a 172-inch display floating six meters in front of you.

It’s a privacy dream for travelers or a mobile cinema for gamers.

The tablet lineup rounds out with two 12.2-inch models:

  • Iconia Duo S12: The “pro” mid-sizer with an OLED screen, 600 nits of brightness, and anti-glare nano-texture glass.
  • Iconia Duo D12: The entry-level workhorse that keeps the 3:2 ratio but swaps in a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC to keep the price down.

What Acer is doing here is interesting. They’re acknowledging that while we still need tablets for “real work” (hence the optional Active Stylus and magnetic keyboards), the future of consumption is moving toward wearables.

In the announcement, the focus on “on-the-go capabilities” isn’t just marketing fluff; it’s a recognition that the traditional 16:9 tablet is a bit of a clunky dinosaur for modern workflows.

Availability

Availability starts as early as August 2026 for the S12 and D12, with the premium S14 and the futuristic glasses following in Q3 and Q4.

Pricing for the AR Vision GR0 starts at a competitive $499, which puts it right in the sweet spot for tech enthusiasts looking to ditch their bulky monitors for something a bit more… ethereal.
