Samsung unveils new ‘Space Tycoon’ Roblox Virtual Playground Experience

A metaverse for Gen Z

Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of a virtual playground built inside the global metaverse platform Roblox called the Samsung Space Tycoon.

Launch in over 14 languages; including Korean, English, Chinese and Spanish, it takes its design and functionality cues from the business simulation ‘tycoon’ genre.

This new virtual space within the metaverse is Samsungs way of creating a service for its Gen Z customers to create and enjoy “their very own Samsung product”.

“Space Tycoon is designed to be a playground where many customers can experience unlimited possibilities of virtual spaces,” said Jinsoo Kim, Executive Vice President at Corporate Design Center in Samsung Electronics. “We wanted to give our Gen Z customers a chance to experience Samsung products in a way they have never done before. We will continue to showcase content that can deliver more meaningful and entertaining digital experiences for both our current and future customers.”

So what’s Space Tycoon?

Space Tycoon is set in the titular Samsung Space Station and research lab where nameless alien characters conduct research on Samsung’s newest Products.

The station is divided into three specialized play zones:

  • The mining Zone for resource gathering/procurement
  • The shop to purchase game items
  • the lab for manufacturing products and stuff

Players can use gathered resources to then design and manufacture various Samsung products.

The whole Space tycoon experience offers players an opportunity to get creative with Samsungs wide line of real-life products and create really cool in-game gadgets.

Some popular products include a foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Flip can turn into a bag or a scooter, just as users will be more imaginative with the Jet Bot vacuum cleaner turning into a hoverboard or even The Sero lifestyle TV into a one-person helicopter.

Samsung even plans to add Additional features where users can interact with one another, share their creations or attend exclusive virtual parties will be further added in the future.

The Shop currently includes over 20 Samsung products for purchase which will change their colour randomly depending on the player’s level achieved. Samsung plans to add additional products to the Space Tycoon Shop.

Samsung will hold dedicated online events through its website Samsung.com under the #YouMake campaign that is focused on colouring and collecting Samsung products.
