Einstein Bros. Bagels Launches Limited-Time ‘Ranch Shmear’

The limited-run cream cheese targets international soccer fans descending on Georgia.

Must Try

DENVER / ATLANTA — Ranch dressing on pizza? Sure, we’ve all been there at 2 a.m. On wings? Obviously. But smeared all over your toasted morning bagel?

Einstein Bros. Bagels seems to think it’s a brilliant idea—well, assuming you happen to be standing in one very specific spot in Georgia.

In what is easily one of the most hyper-localized fast-food stunts we’ve seen this summer, the Denver-based bagel giant is launching a limited-time Ranch Shmear.

But there’s a massive catch. You can’t get it in Denver. You can’t get it in New York, Chicago, or LA.

In fact, you can only buy it at a single bakery located at 1789 Howell Mill Road NW in Atlanta. Literally just one store.

So, what’s the logic here? It all comes down to international soccer and the algorithm.

Recently, social media has been flooded with videos of visiting foreign soccer fans “discovering” American ranch dressing for the first time, turning the classic condiment into an overnight viral sensation.

With Atlanta hosting a major semifinal tournament match on July 15, the city is currently crawling with hungry tourists. Einstein Bros. saw the internet hype, looked at the calendar, and decided to cash in on the cultural crossover.

The build is pretty straightforward: they’ve taken the bold, herby flavor profile of ranch and folded it into their signature double-whipped cream cheese. It’ll run you $4.29 on a classic bagel.

“Ranch is having its biggest cultural moment yet, and Einstein Bros. was not going to sit on the sidelines,” Jessica Serrano, the brand’s Chief Marketing Officer, stated in the announcement.

She’s not wrong about the speed of modern marketing. This is how fast-casual menu innovation works now—spot a TikTok trend, greenlight a prototype, and push it out the door while the internet is still paying attention.

Is it a gimmick? Absolutely. But honestly, ranch has a cult following for a reason, and savory cream cheeses have been a bagel shop staple forever. If you’re in the Atlanta area and brave enough to try the combination, you better move fast. Once the soccer fans head home, this experimental shmear is likely going back into the vault.
