SEOUL, South Korea – NAVER D2SF, the corporate venturing arm of Korea’s top search engine has made a new strategic investment in SCON, a startup specializing in virtual IP and content.
SCON develops and offers B2B solutions for virtual content production. SCON has unique solutions for 3D motion capture and live streaming. The company provides a studio to stable, and ensures deliverable reliable high quality content. These solutions are tailored for virtual content production and distribution. SCON also offers solutions to webtoon and gaming companies.
SCON also dominates in the virtual IP itself with more than 30 virtual character IPs. A group of VTuber called Meechu, makes revenue with the help of merchandise/advertising and live stream donations.
“SCON is a rare team that combines both planning and technical capabilities in the virtual industry,” said Yang Sang-hwan, Head of NAVER D2SF. He also noted ongoing collaboration and synergies in the future between the SCON and virtual teams at NAVER.
Gi-Junsu, CEO of SCON, addressed plans of his own on generating revenue by expanding into secondary content like music and web novels.
