Lovecraft fans, rejoice! Frogwares, the studio behind the acclaimed detective thriller The Sinking City, has some thrilling news.
As their Kickstarter campaign for the sequel, The Sinking City 2, continues to smash goals – currently sitting at a staggering 400% above its initial target – they’ve announced a fully remastered version of the original game.
With only 4 days remaining, the Kickstarter campaign has raised $470,079 from a goal of $108,343, backed by 4,700 supporters.
Originally launched in 2019 using Unreal Engine 4, the upcoming remaster is being rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. This means players can expect a significant visual overhaul, including enhanced locations with more detail, stunning 4K textures, improved reflections, and a complete relighting of the game.
Fan-requested quality-of-life features are also on the way, including the addition of a Photo Mode and support for DLSS, FSR, and TSR upscaling technologies.
The best part? Existing owners of The Sinking City on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S will receive this impressive remaster absolutely free.
Frogwares has even released comparison screenshots showcasing the leap in visual fidelity offered by Unreal Engine 5, with gameplay footage promised soon.
But that’s not all! To further engage the community during the final stretch of their highly successful The Sinking City 2 Kickstarter, Frogwares has launched a unique initiative. They’re offering anyone the chance to have their voice featured in the sequel. Participants simply need to submit a voice recording of themselves saying “YES” in any style they choose.
One hundred randomly selected entries will have their voices included in a choir chanting praises to the Eldritch god Yog-Sothoth, and their names will appear in the game’s credits.
