Scroll, Tap, Watch: Prime Video’s New ‘Clips’ Feature is Your Mobile Entertainment Shortcut

From NBA Highlights to Hollywood Blockbusters: How Prime Video's 'Clips' Will Revolutionize Your Mobile Browsing

Seattle, May 11, 2026 – Just when you thought the short-form video trend couldn’t infiltrate another corner of your digital life, Prime Video is here to prove you wrong.

Following hot on the heels of Netflix’s similar foray into bite-sized content discovery, Prime Video has announced “Clips”—a scrollable, short-form video feed designed to revolutionize how you find your next movie or series.

This isn’t entirely new territory for Prime Video, which initially rolled out “Clips” during the 2025-26 NBA season, offering quick highlights on its NBA collection page. But now, the feature is expanding its reach, embedding “moments from movies and series across the Prime Video experience.”

Brian Griffin, director of global application experiences at Prime Video, suggests this is about making discovery “as easy and seamless as possible,” tailoring “short, personalized snippets” to your interests.

It’s a clear nod to the way many of us consume content now: quick hits on a mobile screen, often when we only have a few minutes to spare.

So, how does it work? To dive in, simply scroll down to the “Clips” carousel on your Prime Video mobile homepage and tap any clip. You’ll then enter a full-screen vertical feed, brimming with more personalized recommendations. From there, the functionality is surprisingly robust.

You can instantly watch the full title, rent or buy it, subscribe to access it, save it to a watchlist, “like” the clip, or even share it with a friend via messaging apps, social platforms, or email.

The recipient gets a direct link, guiding them straight into the clip within the Prime Video app. Every visit promises fresh content, algorithmically tailored to your viewing history—a classic hook to keep you engaged.

This new feature aligns with Prime Video’s broader push to refine its mobile experience. Recent enhancements include a refreshed homepage that auto-plays trailers as you browse, vertical images optimized for phone screens (allowing you to see up to 50% more titles at a glance), and a redesigned player that lets you explore cast details and trivia without interrupting your viewing. It’s an undeniable push for mobile-first engagement, recognizing that for many, the phone is the primary gateway to entertainment.

“Clips” is initially rolling out to select customers in the United States on iOS, Android, and Fire tablets, with full availability expected across these devices by this summer.

For those unfamiliar with the broader Prime Video offering, it serves as an entertainment hub packed with Amazon MGM Studios productions, licensed favorites, content from Prime Video Subscriptions (like Apple TV, HBO Max, Crunchyroll, and MGM+), and over 900 free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels.

All of this is included as part of a Prime membership, which costs 14.99 a month or $139 annually in the U.S. (prices vary by country).

Ultimately, while some might cynically view “Clips” as just another platform mimicking TikTok’s viral success, it’s hard to deny the potential for genuinely improved content discovery.

In a world saturated with streaming options, any tool that helps you cut through the noise and find something you actually want to watch—without endless scrolling—is a welcome addition.
