Kingston, Jamaica, January 19, 2026 – For businesses and individuals relying on efficient logistics between the USA and Jamaica, Ship to Sure Imports has just made a crucial, and perhaps unsurprising, announcement.
Effective immediately, the company has adjusted its air freight rates for the popular USA-to-Jamaica route.
The increase comes after a period where Ship to Sure offered reduced pricing post-Hurricane Melissa, a gesture that, while supportive, resulted in a substantial revenue loss of over JMD 6,000,000.
To sustain “reliable service and frequent flights,” the company states, these adjustments are now a necessary reality. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but what exactly does ‘slightly’ adjusted pricing look like after such a hit?
The new structure means a 1 lb package will now cost 850 JMD. For 2 lbs, the rate jumps to 1,300 JMD.
Crucially, each additional pound, up to 100 lbs, will incur a charge of 430 JMD.
While the company insists these rates remain “competitive locally,” any increase will undoubtedly prompt customers to reassess their shipping strategies.
Ship to Sure is quick to highlight the ongoing benefits designed to mitigate the sting of the price hike. They maintain an impressive five express flights per week, promising faster deliveries to Jamaica.
Furthermore, they assert their pricing still “falls in line with or below many local freight forwarders for comparable weights,” emphasizing transparency, predictability, and reliable tracking and customer support. Is speed and transparency enough to justify the extra cost?
While the commitment to sustainability is understandable for any business facing significant losses, the impact on consumers and small businesses, especially in a price-sensitive market, is undeniable.
Every JMD counts. For a company that aims to be a “trustworthy, affordable service,” navigating the balance between operational viability and customer affordability is a tightrope walk.
So, for those shipping from the USA to Jamaica, the message is clear: check your budgets and your preferred providers. Ship to Sure Imports has made its move.
Now, it’s up to customers to decide if their enhanced service still justifies the new price point, or if new comparisons need to be made.
