KINGSTON, Jamaica, August 20, 2026 — Digital wallets were originally sold to Caribbean consumers on a very simple promise: instant convenience without the endless bank fees. But as financial technology matures across the region, that honeymoon phase is clearly coming to a close.
National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) and its digital wallet subsidiary, Lynk, have formally notified customers of upcoming pricing overhauls that will make moving money notably more expensive starting this autumn.
The changes arrive in two distinct waves. First, NCB will implement its revised schedule of rates and fees across personal and business accounts on September 1, 2026. While the bank insists that over 85 percent of its existing fee structure remains untouched, the published adjustments target high-frequency services, including wire transfers, electronic payments, card services, and in-branch counter requests.
According to official customer communications and the bank’s comprehensive Schedule of Rates & Fees, NCB is continuing its heavy push to drive physical foot traffic away from tellers and onto digital screens.
In-branch account printouts or balance statements will now run customers $1,500 per request, whereas checking those same records via the mobile app or online portal remains free.
Similarly, doing an in-branch transfer to a third-party NCB account will cost $1,545, while digital transfers carry zero fee.
The bigger shock for tech-savvy consumers, however, comes from Lynk. In an official email update sent to app users, the digital wallet platform announced a revised pricing framework taking effect on October 1, 2026.
The most glaring shift is the elimination of free debit card top-ups. Adding funds to a Lynk account using a primary debit card—previously free—will now incur a 3.5 percent processing fee.
Credit card top-ups are also jumping from 2.5 percent to 3.5 percent, while direct payments executed using a linked debit or credit card will carry a flat J$30 fee per transaction.

Thankfully, Apple isn’t pulling that move with its subterranean world-building hit. In an official announcement, Apple TV confirmed thatSilo will return for its fourth and final season on July 9, 2027.
Four seasons feels just right, honestly. Based on Hugh Howey’s bestselling book trilogy, the series had a clear landing zone from day one. Pushing past four seasons would have meant inventing filler that wasn’t in the original books, and nobody wanted that.
If you caught the season three finale that just wrapped up, you know the stakes could not be higher. Juliette Nichols—played brilliantly by star and executive producer Rebecca Ferguson—managed to survive her forced “cleaning” outside the structure. But there is a massive catch: she came back suffering from memory loss, right as the underground bunker struggles to rebuild after a bloody internal rebellion and face a fresh, unidentified threat.
Meanwhile, the show expanded its scope by jumping back to the “Before Times,” weaving an origin story set centuries prior. Watching journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman) unearth the original conspiracy gave the whole narrative a much needed context boost, explaining how humanity got locked underground in the first place.
