Google Search Console adds CNAME-based DNS Verification

Google has announced the addition of CNAME-based DNS verification to its Google Search Console, the tool used by webmasters to manage their website on Google Search.

The announcement was made via the Google Search Central Twitter account, @googlesearchc

This is just a new addition to the options to verify your ownership of a property(website) on the new Search Console platform.

You can also verify your website via Google Analytics tracking code, HTML file upload, HTML tag, Domain name provider, Google Tag Manager container snippet, Google Sites, Blogger and Googe Domains.

Googler Daniel Waisberg has noted that DNS verification only was supported using TXT in Google Search Console and the old Google Webmaster Tools had to support CNAME DNS verification.

This should come as a great addition to the list of ways to verify new properties within the Google Search Console. We look forward to additional features previously found in the old Webmaster Tools being added to Google Search Console.
