Historical Strategy Game ‘Mandate Order’ Launches on Steam and Epic Games Store on August 12

Entering Early Access on August 12 with a 15% launch discount, the $19.99 title puts player feedback directly into the core gameplay loop.

CHENGDU, China, July 26, 2026 — A video game roadmap is, quite frankly, a polite way for a development studio to say, “Please don’t refund our half-baked game just yet, we promise it will get fun in six months.”

We have all bought into them, and we have all been burned by them.

But as the survival hit Palworld recently proved by pulling back nearly a million concurrent Steam players after its latest update, gamers do not return to a title because of a colorful JPEG outlining future DLC. They return because the developers actually fixed the broken, annoying stuff that made them log off in the first place.

This philosophy is precisely why Chinese developer Digisky is taking a radically different approach with its debut.

Their upcoming ancient Chinese war city-builder, Mandate Order, is slated to hit Early Access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 12, 2026.

Priced at $19.99 internationally—with a sweet 15% launch discount active for the first two weeks—the game will support 12 languages.

But instead of hiding behind a five-year content plan, the development team is using their latest playtest announcements to show exactly how they are tweaking systems you can actually feel right now.

Set during the brutal Spring and Autumn and Warring States period, Mandate Order tasks you with turning a muddy frontier outpost into a massive, functioning state. Unlike casual city-builders where war is just a separate screen or a simple math calculation, here, logistics rule supreme.

The developers recently reworked the entire recruitment loop to make this painfully clear. You can’t just press a button to summon soldiers; the swords, shields, and armor must physically travel across roads from your warehouses to the armory before any peasant can be drafted. It makes the administrative burden of running a war-torn province incredibly tangible.

The same logic applies to the game’s aggressive invasion system. Instead of throwing mindless, timed waves of bad guys at your walls, the game forces you to deal with consequences. If bandits show up demanding tribute, you can tell them to get lost.

But if you do, they won’t just attack your town square; they will target your highly valuable storage buildings, wrecking your infrastructure and looting your hard-earned crops along the way.

Suddenly, where you build your roads, where you place your warehouses, and how you deploy your troops become critical, high-stakes decisions.

At its core, Digisky is making a bet that strategy gamers value mechanical clarity over endless, shallow complexity.

They are focusing on making sure players understand exactly *why* their settlements fail, whether it is because a winter freeze ruined the autumn harvest or because a mountain pass left a storage depot exposed.

It is a refreshing change of pace in an industry that usually prefers to promise the moon and deliver a broken launch.

We will see if their gamble pays off when the gates to ancient China open in mid-August.
