Inferno Update: Everything You Need to Know About the Latest Hunt: Showdown Event

Flames, Hellborn, and Double XP: Dive Into the Bayou’s Hottest Update

The bayou just got a whole lot more dangerous.

The “Inferno” time-of-day event has officially roared back into Hunt: Showdown 1896, bringing with it a landscape defined by searing heat, blackened paths, and a host of new gameplay mechanics.

For the veterans, it’s a familiar test of nerves; for the newcomers, it’s a baptism by fire.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a high-stakes, gothic-horror extraction shooter that pits players against both monstrous AI and other hunters in a treacherous, atmospheric setting.

Known for its punishing difficulty and emphasis on sound-based tactics, the game has built a massive cult following by forcing players to constantly adapt to unpredictable environmental shifts.

Inferno Update: Everything You Need to Know About the Latest Hunt: Showdown Event

This isn’t just a visual filter. The Inferno brings active gameplay changes, including the presence of the “Hellborn” enemy on every map and specialized “Firefighter Supply” points.

These spots are your lifeline, offering essentials like ammo, toolboxes, and even the “Flame Rifle” if you’re willing to spend your hard-earned Pledge Marks.

  • Tactical Survival: Fire isn’t just an obstacle; it’s a tool. The roar of the Inferno provides excellent cover for audio, allowing for silent rotations if you’re brave enough to crouch-walk through the smoke.
  • The “Salveskin” Necessity: If you’re heading into the fire, the “Salveskin” trait is no longer optional—it’s mandatory survival gear to prevent rapid health-chunk loss.
  • The Choke Bomb Trick: Pro-tip: If you catch fire, a Choke Bomb cloud is your best friend. Walking through it instantly extinguishes the flames.
  • Dark Sight Advantage: With your audio cues muffled by the crackling flames, Dark Sight becomes your primary sense. Don’t rely on your ears; rely on the supernatural.

The stakes are higher than ever, especially regarding team play. A teammate dying near the edge of the flames is essentially a death sentence for their character—the fire is relentless, and you can’t put it out once it’s consuming a fallen Hunter’s health chunks. Positioning has never been more critical.

If you’re looking to grind the Battle Pass, the team has also scheduled a Double Event Points Boost from April 17 to April 20.

It’s the perfect time to dive in, get scorched, and hopefully extract with your bounty. The Inferno is punishing, but in Hunt, the rewards are always worth the risk of being burned. See you in the bayou.
