U.S., February 5, 2026 – Prepare for the absurd. Adult Swim is once again leaning into the wonderfully bizarre, announcing the premiere of its new anime series, Rooster Fighter, on Saturday, March 14, at midnight ET/PT.
As part of its iconic Toonami block, this adaptation of Shu Sakuratani’s manga promises to deliver exactly what its title suggests: “one cock to save the world.”
The series follows Keiji, a self-proclaimed “cock-about town” who is anything but ordinary. When grotesque, ten-story-tall creatures suddenly appear and wreak havoc, Keiji confronts them with a defiant scoff – “You make my crown curl!” – and a fearsome battle cry: “Kokekokko!” This isn’t just another animal hero story; it’s a testament to courage, even if it comes in a feathered package.
Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim (the global leader in adult animation, airing critically acclaimed series like “Rick and Morty” and “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal”), perfectly encapsulates the show’s spirit: “It’s ridiculous, wildly sincere, and packed with talon-powered action.”
Rooster Fighter is produced for Adult Swim by VIZ and HERO’s INC, in association with SOLA Entertainment and SANZIGEN. The 12-episode series will air in English every Saturday evening at midnight, starting March 14.
This consistent rollout means fans can settle into a new weekly ritual of watching a rooster punch above his weight class.
The show’s premise immediately piques curiosity. Can a rooster truly be humanity’s greatest defender? And will viewers embrace such an outlandish hero? Adult Swim has a proven track record of bringing unique and often boundary-pushing animation to a dedicated audience (Toonami, its fan-favorite anime block, has expanded to produce original series).
So, while Rooster Fighter might sound like pure comedic chaos, it could very well be the next cult hit, offering a much-needed dose of escapism and laughter.
Ultimately, Rooster Fighter is a bold bet on the power of the utterly ridiculous.
It’s an anime that understands its premise and leans into it with gusto, promising viewers an experience unlike anything else on television.
Get ready for some serious talon-powered action and perhaps, a new appreciation for barnyard fowl.
