Verisign Announces Solid Q1 2025 Results and Initiates Quarterly Dividend

RESTON, Virginia – Verisign, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN), a key player in internet infrastructure and domain name registry services, has reported its financial results for the first quarter of 2025.

The Virginia-based company saw revenue increase to $402 million.

Along with this announcement, the company is initiating quarterly cash dividends, according to Jim Bidzos, Executive Chairman, President and CEO.

  • Per the financial report, Verisign’s Q1 2025 revenue reached $402 million, marking a 4.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
  • Operating income rose to $271 million, up from $259 million in the first quarter of the previous year.
  • Net income was reported at $199 million, with diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.10. This is compared to a net income of $194 million, and diluted EPS of $1.92 in 2024.

Highlighting shareholder returns, Verisign’s Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend of $0.77 per share of outstanding common stock, payable on May 28, 2025, to stockholders of record as of May 19, 2025.

The company intends to continue this quarterly cash dividend program, subject to market conditions and Board approval.

Verisign also managed its debt effectively, issuing $500 million in Senior Notes due 2032 and using the proceeds to repay maturing notes. The company’s cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities stood at $649 million at the end of Q1 2025.

A large number of domain registrations, along with revenue growth, meant that the first quarter of 2025 saw cash flow from operations rise to $291 million.

By the end of the first quarter, Verisign managed 169.8 million .com and .net domain name registrations, which are the cornerstone of their business model. Additionally, Verisign processed 10.1 million new .com and .net domain name registrations during the quarter.

Verisign provides root zone maintainer services, operates internet root servers, and provides registration services for the .com and .net top-level domains.
