Hong Kong – Terminal 3, a Hong Kong-based Web3 startup, is making waves with its innovative approach to data privacy and security.
The company is developing a decentralized identity and credentials platform, aiming to give users control over their data while simplifying compliance for enterprises. With nearly 8 million users already served across various blockchains and industries, Terminal 3 is poised to become a key player in the future of Web3.
The company just announced a successful $8 million seed funding round. The round was co-led by Illuminate Financial and CMCC Titan Fund, with participation from Animoca Brands, Progression Fund, IDG Blockchain, and Cherubic Ventures.
Existing investors 500 Global, Consensys Mesh, Hard Yaka, and BlackPine also joined the round, signaling strong confidence in Terminal 3’s vision. The funding will fuel the development of Terminal 3’s novel data privacy protocol, set to launch later this year, and accelerate the adoption of its enterprise platform.
Terminal 3 is leveraging blockchain and privacy-enhancing technologies, like zero-knowledge cryptography, to create a secure and self-sovereign data storage solution. This allows users to manage their data privately for various applications, from banking and government credentials to social media and marketing.
Recently, Terminal 3 unveiled an authentication and authorization platform for AI agents, adding trust, security, and privacy to autonomous transactions and showcasing its commitment to addressing the growing data security needs driven by AI and evolving regulations.
“We are at a critical inflection point for digital assets and decentralized technologies across global financial markets,” said Luca Zorzino, General Partner and Head of Asia at Illuminate Financial. “The key for unlocking these massive opportunities is secure data and identity, and we believe that Terminal 3’s innovative solutions will accelerate the institutional adoption of both while creating a new era of digital trust. Illuminate is thrilled to be investing in this mission.”
