George Town, Cayman Islands – Neiro, a meme-inspired cryptocurrency, is going in a new direction.
The new crypto has officially acquired the intellectual property (IP) rights to the Neiro character from Atsuko Sato, the owner of Kabosu, the Shiba Inu dog behind the iconic Doge meme, with a goal of becoming crypto’s original memecoin and one of its most recognizable cultural landmarks, with a key feature of being its a community-driven token.
According to the original announcement, Atsuko adopted Neiro after Doge passed away. The organization highlights that Neiro has received attention from Ethereum’s creator Vitalik Buterin, and from Justin Sun, along with being on Binance.
The announcement comes after a vote by the Own The Doge DAO, where Neiro received overwhelming support with 92% of members vouched in favor of the project.
Following the agreement, Neiro has already begun efforts to register the brand as a trademark and plans to feature the IP across projects, including via the unveiling of a licensed NFT collection.
The IP is expected to honor Doge’s legacy, by reinforcing Neiro principles, like “Doing Only Good Everyday,” where various community projects support Atsuko and charitable causes.
In highlighting the current market for meme coins, the press release goes on to say: It also strengthens Neiro’s ability to take legal action against unlicensed tokens using the Neiro name, further protecting the integrity of its ecosystem.
Neiro is a Dogecoin-inspired meme crypto dedicated to making a positive impact. Through their motto “Doing Only Good Everyday” Neiro strives to uphold the Doge legacy and drive community-based innovation. So far they have donated $300,000.
