PHOENIX – Desert Financial Credit Union has announced the launch of Kickstart, a free program and companion checking account designed to teach kids how to budget, save, and spend money safely, all under adult supervision.
The program empowers parents and guardians to send funds to their child’s account and set spending limits.
Kickstart also includes access to online child-friendly programming designed to make financial education fun and rewarding. Through the Desert Financial mobile app, children earn achievements for setting a budget, completing chores, meeting savings goals, and even “paying off loans” to their parents.

According to Jeff Meshey, President and CEO at Desert Financial Credit Union, Keystart will support learning in the following areas: spending with their own debit card, saving for a new toy, or even college.
We want kids — and their parents or guardians — to feel proud of their financial accomplishments. Creating good financial habits should be fun; reaching a goal should feel like a big win, no matter your age.
